Historical Heritage 1: The Sakura Tree of Isazawa

Want to see a famous Japanese Sakura (cherry blossom) tree? How about a “really, really old” Sakura? Isazawa has a sakura tree outside its elementary school building that is more than three hundred years old.

Historical Heritage 2: Bunkyounomori House

This home used to belong to a wealthy Kimono merchant. Now, it is one of the few totally traditional Japanese houses preserved in the city. It operates as a museum and can be visited until 4:30 pm.

Historical Heritage 3: The Kodainooka Museum

Located near the foot of the mountains, close to Nishine elementary school, is a museum dedicated to artifacts from the period of Japanese history before the current ethnic majority crossed from the mainland into the islands. Included in this museum are some straw-hut structures representing the sort of houses popular in these pre-modern times.
