Mogami Riverside

Not a single park. The Mogami river runs through the entire region, and there are lots of scenic places along it to enjoy a good walk. Or, try fly-fishing for the little Iwana fish that live in the river.

The poet Basho once composed the following Haiku about the Mogami River:

Samidare wo (Gathering Seawards)

Atsumete suzushi (the summer rains, how cool it is!)

mogamigawa (Mogami River)

Ayame Park

Ayame is the Japanese word for "Iris" flowers. A small park at the north end of Nagai, Ayame is a beautiful place to visit in spring. Includes a small Koi pond.

Shirotsutsuji Park

Tsutsuji is another type of flower. This park, named after the flower, is the central park of Nagai city. While not very large, it still makes for a pleasant place to visit in spring. In May, the Black Lion festival takes place here.
