The Flower Line

Shirataka - Akayu

The Flower Line is the local train line in Nagai. It has two local stops: Nagai-Minami (south) and Nagai-central, which drops off directly behind the City Hall building.

The Flower line takes between thirty and forty minutes to connect to Akayu station in Nando, which is the closest stop from which you can transfer to the Bullet Train (Shinkansen) and JR Line trains to get to Yamagata, Tokyo, etc.

Payment is made when you leave the train, directly with the driver near the front entrance. To Akayu is about 560 Yen.

Bus S88-C5

This bus line drops off directly in front of the City Hall building, near the northern entrance. It goes through Shirataka, over the mountain and ends at Yamagata central train station.

The same route can be taken in reverse. The cost is 1,200 Yen, and payment is made as you leave the bus. The journey takes a little over one hour, and from Yamagata station, the bus often leaves as frequently as once an hour (check google maps to confirm timings for your date).
